The Edge Pro Apex 4 Knife Sharpening System gives your cutlery a precision edge that cannot be achieved using other sharpening methods. Edge Pro edges are razor-sharp, even, exact and free of burrs, consistently, quickly, and easily every time. The Edge Pro's patented knife guide system does not clamp the blade like inferior sharpening systems, so the Edge Pro will easily sharpen any blade length or blade shape at precisely the same angle every time. Bevel angles are adjustable from a steep 35° to a razor-thin 10°. The effort required to resharpen an Edge Pro'd knife is considerably less than with any other sharpening system, and the amount of material removed to achieve a razor-sharp edge is dramatically reduced compared to conventional sharpening systems. The Edge Pro's water stones free you from messy oil stones, and no heat is generated during sharpening so your thin knife blade will not lose its factory temper. The Edge Pro Apex 4 Knife Sharpening System includes:
Manufactured from the highest quality materials in Hood River, Oregon.
If you just learning to use the Edge Pro or if you have arthritic hands, Edge Pro has available the Edge Pro Apex Retractable Magnet, which fits under the Apex's blade table and effectively magnetizes it to hold knife blades stationary during sharpening. The Retractable Magnet can also be an aid when sharpening swords or very long knives.
The Edge Pro Apex attaches to a flat, smooth surface with two suction cups. If your counter or work area will not support adhesion of suction cups, or if you want to sharpen your knives in the garage and there is no suitable surface there, look at the Edge Pro Apex Bench Mount, which will permit you to use your Apex on nearly any flat surface.
If you sharpen a lot of small blades in the 2" to 3" range, you might want to fit the Edge Pro Small Knife Attachment, which is 2" wide and effectively shrinks the Edge Pro's platform down to the size of these small blades and makes sharpening them easier.
Also available is the Edge Pro Apex Scissor Chisel Attachment for sharpening scissors, hair-styling shears, planes, pruners, chisels, and gouges. If you love the razor-sharp cutting ability of your Edge Pro'd knives, you will want the same feel on your scissors and other tools.

The Edge Pro Apex Retractable Magnet fits under the blade table of the Edge Pro Apex Knife Sharpener and lets the user effectively magnetize it to hold a knife blade stationary and stabilize it during sharpening. This is especially helpful:
You may find knife shapes or sizes where the magnetism will be a hindrance rather than an aid. Or, you may want to eliminate the magnetism when cleaning the blade table of steel grounds after sharpening. If so, simply pull down on the knob to retract the magnet downward and away from the blade table and eliminate any magnetism.
Whenever you want magnetism again, simply press up on the knob and push the magnet back to the blade table to magnetize it. There are no tools required. Simply use the magnet when it's helpful and lower the magnet when it's not.
Installing the Edge Pro Apex table magnet accessory on new machines is very simple. The housing press fits (tightly) under the Apex's blade table. For older models, you may have to replace the leg screws (included) to make room for the magnet.
This magnet fits only the Edge Pro Apex and does not fit the Edge Pro Professional Model.
The Edge Pro Apex Knife Sharpener has two suction cups that stick onto a smooth surface such as glass or a countertop. This system works just fine for most people, but some people want to sharpen on their butcher-block workbenches. Others have workbenches that aren't smooth on top or aren't compatible with suction cups. Still others want their Edge Pro Apex to be portable so that they can sharpen the knives of friends and family who may not have a smooth surface. Still others want to sharpen in the garage (because sharpening knives is dirty) and there's no smooth surface there.
The Edge Pro Apex Bench Mount allows the Edge Pro Apex to be mounted to almost any flat surface. The Apex Bench Mount attaches to the platform of the Edge Pro Apex and provides a clamping surface for your favorite C-clamp, screw clamp, or speed clamp. The result is even more stable than when the Apex is suction-cupped to immovable glass.
Use your imagination and many different mounting ideas will occur to you.
The Edge Pro Sharpening System works with almost any blade length or shape. However, blades 2" to 3" long can sometimes pose difficulties because they are shorter than the Edge Pro's platform is wide. If these short blades are fitted with thumb studs, then the problem is exacerbated further. Blades like these can still be sharpened on the Edge Pro by a skilled user who rotates the blade about the corner of the guide plate, but unskilled users who want to hold the blade stationary will tend to grind the platform as they try to sharpen their short blades.
Edge Pro has solved the short-blade dilemma with the Edge Pro Small Knife Attachment, which is only 2" wide and raises the small blade off the Edge Pro's platform. The Small Knife Attachment replaces the Edge Pro's guide plate and has its own miniature guide plate. Think of the Small Knife Attachment as a miniature Edge Pro platform because that is basically what it is. Set the guide plate's depth so that the blade's edge barely hangs off the edge of the platform and sharpen as you normally would on the Edge Pro. Just remember that the Small Knife Attachment is 1/4" tall, so compensate for that the added height when setting your bevel angle.
The Small Knife Attachment will work on both the Edge Pro Apex and Edge Pro Professional platforms. John has an Edge Pro Professional and just leaves the SKA on there 24/7 to act as a blade stop when sharpening large blades. When John wants to sharpen a small blade, he pulls the SKA toward him and then puts the small blade on top of the SKA.
If you use the Edge Pro Sharpening System on your cutlery, then you know just how razor-sharp your knives are when you Edge Pro them. You even chuckle a little inside when people tell you how sharp their knives are because they have no idea what sharp is. Edge Pro'd knives are so sharp that even brand-new factory knives feel ridiculously dull in comparison. Edge Pro'd knives also have mirror-polished edges that look surreal to those accustomed to ground edges, and glide right through whatever you are cutting as if lubricated.
Do you remember how stunned you were the first time you cut something with an Edge Pro'd knife? Now bring that same kind of sharpness to your scissors, hair-styling shears, planes, pruners, chisels, and gouges with the Edge Pro Apex Scissor Chisel Attachment.
The Apex Scissor Chisel Attachment bolts to the Edge Pro Apex. Two stop bars and the central clamp bar hold stationary the particular blade you want to sharpen, and the entire assembly will angle to whatever angle you desire. Many Edge Pro users duplicate the factory bevel angles on their knives by marking them with a Sharpie and very delicately running a fine stone or polish tape across the bevel to duplicate the factory angle. This procedure is very easy to accomplish with the Scissor Chisel Attachment. Or, you can change the factory bevel if you desire.
Instructions are included. If you know how to use the Edge Pro on knives, you will probably have no problem at all using the Edge Pro on scissors and other blades.
The Edge Pro 120-Grit Coarse Water Stone is made of silicon carbide and is most useful for removing large amounts of metal quickly. This coarse stone is generally used only to straighten an abused, chipped, or otherwise damaged blade, or to change the factory bevel angle on a good blade.
Edge Pro Water Stones are available in the following grits:
The Edge Pro 220-Grit Medium-Fine Water Stone is made of aluminum oxide and cuts a uniform bevel while removing medium amounts of metal quickly from your blades. Many users start with the 220 stone when resharpening their previously Edge Pro'd knives.
The Edge Pro 600-Grit Extra Fine Water Stone is made of aluminum oxide and is the next step after the 400-Grit Fine Stone. It achieves an extra-fine edge on your blades.
