ARB Soft Connect Shackle (ARB2018)

The ARB Soft Connect Shackle represents the latest in high-technology recovery gear that is as strong as the old-school recovery gear, but easier to use and can be safer to use. If you switched from steel winch cable to synthetic winch line, you probably never looked back and never will. The Soft Connect Shackle is similar for a lot of people.

The Soft Connect Shackle is flexible by nature and will work with many different kinds of shapes that steel shackles would be incompatible with. Furthermore, steel shackles can behave like steel weights on the end of a giant elastic band if a vehicle's recovery point ever fails under load. The Soft Connect Shackle is light enough that it will float in water, so it represents much less of a hazard if a recovery point ever fails during a recovery. Your recovery gear bag will also be lighter in weight by many pounds because a good recovery bag has several shackles in it.

The Soft Connect Shackle's high technology provides:

Of course the steel shackle still works just fine, and indisputably has advantages over the soft shackle such as lower cost, smaller size, far greater durability, and greater strength (pretty much invulnerable for our intents and purposes). Steel shackles are especially superior on applications where a soft shackle could be abraded or cut, such as when used with a pulley block. If you are familiar with steel shackles and prefer to use them, they are still available and always will be.
