ARB Utility Case (ARB-4344)

The ARB Utility Case is a large soft case designed to organize a field kitchen, provide easy access to the many contents within, and take no precious tabletop space. The Utility Case measures 16" x 12" x 3" when folded and weighs 3.7 lbs. empty. It will hold quite a lot. There are 18 pockets inside the Utility Case to hold plates, cutlery, utensils, spatulas, serving spoons, and so on. The large pockets close with velcro and the entire case zips shut for storage and transport.

When you cook in the field, you know how precious workspace can be because of the size of camp furniture. Anything that rests on your tabletop necessarily takes space and makes cooking more difficult. The Utility Case is designed to hold a great amount of kitchen equipment but be suspended from something like an awning, roof rack, or roll cage and take no tabletop space at all.

The Utility Case is designed so that the contents will not spill out during the unfolding and suspending process. The large pockets are closed with velcro and the smaller pockets use friction and gravity to hold the implements. To deploy the Utility Case and access the contents, open the velcro strap and unzip the case. Then unfold the Utility Case sideways like a book, and then unfold it once again top to bottom. There are two nylon straps with steel J-hooks for suspending the Utility from nearly anything that is 4" in diameter or smaller. A third nylon strap with steel J-hook will hold a standard roll of paper towels. 

The two large interior pockets will hold plates up to 10" in diameter, and one of these pockets is detachable if you desire. These pockets will devour something like the 16-piece Snow Peak Tableware Set L Family, which is only 8.3" in diameter and 3" tall, and still have room to spare for things like spices, sauces, napkins, and so on.

The section with the thin pockets is 14" tall and will accommodate longer tools like spatulas, tongs, and large serving spoons. Even the Element E100 Industrial Fire Extinguisher fits into the standard pockets, and the smaller Element E50 fits no problem. If you like, you can cut the stitching between two pockets to customize the pockets to your specific tools. For example, you can cut the stitching between two of the smaller pockets to hold something like the Snow Peak Folding Torch. Go through your field kitchen and many ideas will occur to you.

The beauty of soft luggage is that it can change shape and size depending on the contents. The contents are still organized and protected against banging and clanging during transit, but there is almost no wasted space in your luggage. In contrast, things like wooden chuck boxes are for people with no real experience in how to cook while camping. Such boxes are also very large and heavy, while soft luggage permits the same amount of contents to be segregated into several different bags or rolls.
