Edge Pro Apex Slide Guide (ASG)

The Edge Pro Apex Slide Guide can greatly facilitate the sharpening of most EDC folder blades. The vast majority of EDC folder blades are under four inches long and many of them have irregular shapes (especially the Spydercos with their thumb holes and hump backs). When these blades are sharpened on the standard Edge Pro Apex, they typically need not be moved because of their short length and they rest against the Edge Pro's standard guide plate at one point. To prevent the blade from teetering during sharpening, the user must hold the knife stationary with his support hand. This system works just fine and has been the standard way of using the Edge Pro for decades.

The Apex Slide Guide makes things even easier and is especially helpful:

• to beginners who are still learning how to use the Edge Pro Apex
• to users with weak or arthritic hands
• when sharpening EDC blades with thumb holes or Klingon blade shapes
• when sharpening large quantities of knives in long sessions

The Slide Guide replaces standard guide plate with an adjustable aluminum guide plate that spans the full width of the blade table and contacts the blade at two points rather than one. Simply place your EDC blade on the sharpening table and adjust the Slide Guide's aluminum fingers so that the blade edge will be positioned properly. The blade is now held secure at two positions and the knife will not teeter during sharpening. The user may hold the knife very lightly because the Slide Guide does most of the work. You can even supplement the Slide Guide with the Edge Pro Apex Retractable Magnet, which will hold the blade stationary using magnetic force. When the Slide Guide and Retractable Magnet are employed together, the blade is held very securely without hand force required and many EDC knives can be held stationary with a single fingertip.

While the Slide Guide may work with larger blades, most blade sizes and shapes will work better using the standard guide plate. However, nothing stops you from experimenting to see what works best for you and your blades.

The Slide Guide is machined from 6061 aluminum and hardcoat anodized for durability and corrosion resistance.

The Apex Slide Guide fits the Edge Pro Apex model only, and does not fit the Professional model.
