ESEE Knives RAT Match (RAT-MATCH)

The ESEE Knives RAT Match is a magnesium fire starter that is sized to be keychain-convenient so that it will always be there when you need it. The RAT Match is 3" long and and 9/32" in diameter, and one end is drilled for a lanyard or keychain. Alternatively, the RAT Match is small enough to fit into personal survival tins and even some knife sheaths.

Half of the RAT Match is composed of magnesium (silver side) and the other of Ferrocerium (black side). Striking the Ferrocerium side alone will light most fires. For wet or recalcitrant tinders, magnesium shavings mixed with the tinder will help greatly to get your wood lit. Both ends of the RAT Match are truly waterproof and will never deplete like lighters. The sparks emitted are about 3000 degrees Centigrade.

The RAT Match is also useful in your field kitchen, where it can serve as the igniter for your Snow Peak Folding Torch or other burners without integral igniters.
