FilterMAG Oil Filter Magnet (SS365)

The FilterMAG SS365 Oil Filter Magnet fits oil filters with a diameter from 3.50" to 3.90" (which covers all Land Rover V8 applications including the Land Rover Genuine Parts ERR3340 Oil Filter. The eight Neodymium magnets attract and trap metal particulates as small as 2 microns in size and hold them tightly against the oil filter's walls. The SS365 will immediately begin cleaning your engine's oil without restricting or otherwise affecting oil's flow.

Oil filters remove particulates by forcing the oil through paper-based media with very small pores. The pores are small enough to trap most particulate matter in the oil but are large enough to permit the oil to flow at sufficient rates to lubricate the engine. The technology behind this filtering medium is an inherent compromise that has remained relatively unchanged since the 1930s. While it is necessary to filter the oil to remove harmful contaminants, it is equally important that the oil flow back into the engine with sufficient volume and pressure to lubricate the engine's moving parts. A "perfect" oil filter would trap all particulates down to 1 micron in size (about 1/70th the thickness of a human hair). Unfortunately, a filter with ports that small would also starve the engine of oil and cause engine failure. Filter medium developments over the years have increased the efficiency and life cycle for oil filters, but fluid dynamics still require the ports in the oil filters to remain at about the 25-micron size or larger to maintain sufficient oil flow. In other words, particulates smaller than 25 microns in size flow right through the oil filter.
