The Nite Ize CamJam Ratchet Strap System Small is a pairing of the revolutionary Nite Ize CamJam Ratchet and 12 feet of 1" polypropylene webbing with a loop sewn on one end. The two combine to form a particularly useful ratchet strap that is unique in the marketplace.
Unlike other ratchets, the CamJam Ratchet can be fixed at any location on the webbing, and without tools. The ability to move the Ratchet means that you can place it away from your secured items to prevent damage. Alternatively, you can locate the Ratchet where you can get the best access to the ratcheting mechanism.
The Ratchet is very high quality and has an alluring feel to the hand because it is free of the sharp edges and burrs found on other ratchets. The steel sheetmetal elements of the Ratchet have all been tumble-finished to round the edges and the ratcheting action is very smooth because the ratchet teeth and pawl have been tumbled as well. The hook end of the Ratchet's handle is covered with plastic to increase its thickness and make it more comfortable to operate when tightening loads. The Ratchet's axis has knurled ends so that it is very easy for the fingers to turn to accept the webbing. There is also no need to draw back a spring-loaded ratchet pawl to release the Ratchet because Nite Ize has designed an ingenious release mechanism to undo the ratchet by compression rather than drawing. Thus, releasing the ratchet is easy even under the tightest loads. All steel pieces of the Ratchet are plated with electroless nickel for corrosion resistance and good glide properties.
The unique design of the polypropylene webbing obviates the need for J-hooks or other attachment methods to secure the polypropylene webbing to your anchor points. The webbing is inherently "soft" and will not dig into the items you want to secure. If the 12 feet of webbing is too long for your application, then you can simply cut the webbing and seal it with heat to prevent it from fraying.
The CamJam Ratchet Strap System also stores and transports more easily because the Ratchet and webbing can separate to prevent fouling and tangling. You also have the option of keeping several different lengths of webbing on hand to suit different jobs.
The working load limit is 500 lbs., so the CamJam Ratchet Strap System should be strong enough for securing nearly everything that one typically takes fourwheeling in a typical 4x4. For example, even something very heavy like four 20L jerry cans full of fuel weighs less than half of the working load limit of the Dual CamJam Ratchet Strap System. And breaking strength is three times the working load limit at 1,500 lbs. So even this 1" Ratchet is plenty.

Some people find ratchet straps confusing and difficult to use and prefer to use cinch straps (which all else equal are even stronger than ratchet straps but more difficult to cinch down very tightly).
