REYR Gear Silicone Collapsible Insta-Net + Holster (RG-11)

The REYR Gear Silicone Collapsible Insta-Net + Holster is made for REYR Gear by Handy Pak Net Co. of Ashland, PA. the inventor and maker of the original collapsible landing net since 1955. This Insta-Net + Holster represent the finest landing net that Handy Pack Net Co. makes, with clear silicone netting, teak wood handle, and hand-tooled leather holster. It is the perfect partner to the REYR Gear First Cast 4wt Travel Fly Rod + Reel.

Unlike a traditional landing net, the Insta-Net is worn on the belt like a sidearm. It is worn rather than borne, and is always within easy reach but leaves both hands free for other tasks. When the Insta-Net is drawn from the holster, it uncurls and opens instantly and automatically. There are no hinges or joints to break or get fouled because the Insta-Net uses the net's steel perimeter as a giant spring. When deployed, the net measures 15" long x 12" wide x 9" deep--just as large as other nets. The clear silicone net is easier on fish than nylon nets because the clear silicone is less abrasive to the fish's skin. Hooks also do not get caught in this net. When you are done with the Insta-Net, simply fold up the net and reholster it.

The Insta-Net's handle is made from teak. Teak's high oil content, tensile strength, and very tight grain combine to make it tremendously resistant to water, rot, fungus, and mildew--even when not treated or maintained in any way. This is why teak is used on boats, and why Handy Pak Net Co. uses teak on this Insta-Net. The teak on this handle is untreated on purpose and will turn a beautiful gray color with time and use. The gray color is purely cosmetic and many teak users actually like the gray color and find it desirable. If you want a darker or more brown color to your handle, you can treat the raw teak with a waterproof oil such as tung oil to help seal the teak against against the atmosphere.

The holster is hand-tooled cowhide and is worn on the belt like a handgun holster. The teak handle is oriented vertically in the holster, so the rig may be worn strong-side or crossdraw. There are 1 7/8" slots cut into the rear face, so the holster is an excellent match with a 1.5" belt. There are six small drainage holes at the bottom so that water does not pool in the holster. The holster is plain cowhide so that the user can decide if he wants to dye the holster or not before applying his leather protectant of choice. Of course the best choice for that is Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP Leather Preservative, the time-tested blend of natural oils, beeswax, and propolis that conditions, restores, waterproofs, preserves, protects, and beautifies leather products while always allowing the leather to breathe. Obenauf's is a no-brainer on this holster.

This product is designed to serve you for life. The waterproof teak handle requires no maintenance. The steel net frame and handle fasteners are stainless steel to resist corrosion. All parts of both net and holster are replaceable if they should ever wear out.
