The Snow Peak GigaPower LI Stove is Snow Peak's most powerful burner with a remarkably high 34,000 BTU output, and comes into its own when very high amounts of heat are desired such as stir-frying in a wok, deep-frying in the Snow Peak Japanese Cast Iron Oven 26cm Dutch Oven, searing thick steaks in a large cast-iron skillet like the GSI Outdoors GUIDECAST 12 Inch Fry Pan, or boiling large pots of pasta water in the Snow Peak Heavy Duty Multi-Purpose Cook Set I. The GigaPower LI Stove is not a specialty stove and it may be used standalone or as part of Snow Peak's Iron Grill Table System, works with the largest and smallest of cooking vessels, and offers numerous fuel options.
To use the GigaPower LI Stove in standalone mode, simply hinge open its four legs into a lunar lander shape and attach an isobutane canister. The four legs are adjustable for height and the four trivets may be hinged open or closed depending on the size of your cooking vessel.
The GigaPower LI Stove also becomes part of Snow Peak's popular Iron Grill Table System through adaptation via the Snow Peak LI Stove Joint Frame. The GigaPower LI Stove rests in the LI Stove Joint Frame, which in turn rests within the IGT frame.
The GigaPower is a very large burner by camping standards and is compatible with the largest cooking vessels. The burner measures 4.5" in diameter and its windscreen measures 9" in diameter. When unfolded to the outside position, the trivets span 14" tip to tip. A 12" skillet like the GSI Outdoors GUIDECAST 12 Inch Frying Pan is child's play for the GigaPower LI Stove and yet it will also handle the smallest of cooking vessels because the trivets measure only 3" tip to tip when they are folded to the inside position. There is probably no camp-cooking vessel with which the GigaPower LI Stove is not compatible.
While it is a very large burner capable of handling nearly any cooking vessel, the GigaPower LI Stove is definitely not some moronically large Overland Bro Burner. Rather, the GigaPower LI Stove stores and transports very easily because of its folding nature. In transport mode, the GigaPower LI Stove measures only 9" in diameter and 8" tall. In fact, the retail box measures only 9" x 9" x 9". In a great many field kitchens, two GigaPower LI Stoves will actually transport more easily than most double burners will because most double burners are wide and flat and often make for an awkward size to fit into a box.
The GigaPower LI Stove typically runs on isobutane canisters like the Kovea Iso-Butane & Propane, PRIMUS Power Gas, and Snow Peak GigaPower systems, and there are two modes of gas use. The canister may be inverted for very hot fires, or the canister may be stood up for low-temperature cooking or simmering. The GigaPower LI Stove is also capable of adaptation with various gas adapters.
Materials are stainless steel and brass for corrosion resistance and easy clean-up. Over time and with use, the burner, windscreen, and trivets take on a beautiful patina and color from the very high heat ouput. New-money people dislike the discoloration but knowledgeable and experienced people love it.
