The Snow Peak Serving Fork is a beautiful wooden service fork that is tweaked slightly to be more suited for outdoor use. The 10" length is slightly shorter than normal so that it is more easily transported in your field kitchen, but the bowl remains at full size (about 3" x 3" and deep). Tabletop space is always limited when cooking in the field, so to the handle is riveted a steel hook so that the fork may be hung from the Iron Grill Table when not being used. The hook also lets the fork be hung out to dry after washing.
Construction is beechwood with food-safe varnish finish. The end hook and rivets are constructed of stainless steel for corrosion resistance. If you like, you can treat the hooked end of the handle with a food-safe oil like Opinel Maintenance Oil to protect the beech against water intrusion, warping, and food stains. Capillary action will draw the Maintenance Oil into the gaps between the beech and steel and seal those portions of the wood (which are not varnished). Wipe off any excess and your fork is now totally protected.
