Snow Peak Solid Stake Delta 30 (R-403)

The Snow Peak Solid Stake Delta 30 is an updated take on the classic Snow Peak Solid Stake 30, which has garnered overwhelming support since its release in 1995 and is now Classic Kit.  Updated features on the Solid Stake Delta include:

• a larger, wider, and flatter head that is slightly more forgiving of mis-hits
• the pull hole is oriented at the very top of the head for easiest extraction with the Snow Peak Peg Hammer PRO.C
• a two-part hook for easily securing rope after the stake is driven fully into the ground, which eliminates the need to pull and re-drive the stake
• a head shape that helps to ensure the stake is driven in at the proper 45º angle
• triangular cross-section (the "Delta") that makes it easy to drive into the ground and easy to remove by twisting

Like the original Solid Stake, the Solid Stake Delta is is constructed of 55C steel material that is heated to 2000 degrees in a furnace and then forged into shape for maximum strength.

It is inevitable to compare the Solid Stake Delta with the original Solid Stake.  The biggest differences are probably cost and weight (the Solid Stake Delta cost nearly double and weighs 220g while the original Solid Stake weighs 175g).  The Solid Stake Delta probably looks cooler to most people.  But in the end, the differences between the Solid Stake Delta and Solid Stake are very minor.  Both are excellent stakes and both will serve you very well.  If you have the original Solid Stakes, there is probably little reason to change.
