The Snow Peak Titanium Spork is an ultra-lightweight hybrid tool that can be used as a spoon or fork, and the curved edge can also be used to cut softer items.
The Titanium Spork is like the Snow Peak Titanium Foon, but the Titanium Spork's design is biased toward the spoon end of the spectrum with larger bowl and smaller tines. The Titanium Foon is biased toward the fork end of the spectrum with longer tines and smaller bowl. The Titanium Spork works better with soups and stews while the Titanium Foon works better with things like meats, vegetables, and noodles.
The Titanium Spork represents a double weight reduction, as titanium is substantially lighter than stainless steel, and one need carry only one utensil rather than two or three. More important than weight is titanium's suitability for utensil construction. Titanium has no metallic smell or taste (unlike aluminum or stainless steel), will not corrode or stain when left wet or exposed to acidic foods (unlike aluminum and stainless steel), and is very strong and will not melt (unlike plastic). Titanium is also easily serviced in the field, as a simple rinse with water and a wipe-down with a cloth are all that is necessary.
