The Snow Peak Ti-Double Wall 400 Bowl is essentially a bowl-shaped version of Snow Peak's famous Titanium Stacking Mugs. Because of the greater width and shallower depth (about 5" wide x 2" tall), the 400 Bowl is much easier to eat out of than the stacking mugs (even the shorter and wider Snow Peak Titanium Stacking Mug Set Seppou M).
Also different from the Stacking Mugs is the stacking options. The 400 Bowl has tapered walls, so it will stack into another 400 Bowl and you can stack several 400 bowls into a column. Alternatively, the 400 Bowl will nest completely within the larger Snow Peak Ti-Double Wall 600 Bowl (which has the same shape but in a larger size). The stacking mugs have vertical walls and can stack only one way (a smaller mug nesting within a larger mug).
The 400 Bowl provides superior heat and cold insulation due to its double-wall construction. Holding a bowl of piping hot breakfast ramen in a bare hand presents no issue at all. Hot foods stay hotter and cold foods stay colder inside the 400 Bowl. Furthermore, titanium has low thermal conductivity (so the heat from hot foods will never reach the lip of the cup), no metallic smell or taste (unlike aluminum or stainless steel), will not corrode or stain when left wet or exposed to acidic liquids or foods (unlike aluminum and stainless steel), and is very strong and will not break or melt (unlike plastic). Titanium is also easily serviced in the field, as a simple rinse with water and a wipe-down with a cloth are all that is necessary. Best of all, titanium is nonallergenic. Nobody is allergic to titanium.
