ARB DIGITAL Tire Inflator (ARB601A)

The ARB Digital Tire Inflator is identical to the ARB Analog Tire Inflator, but has a digital readout and will be easier to use for some users because:

• The backlit LCD screen gives a bright and very legible readout even in dark conditions;
• The numbers on the digital readout are larger and easier to read for those who require reading glasses;
• Some people find it difficult and unintuitive to read a dial gauge;
• The numerical readout may be changed to whatever system you are most familiar with (e.g., 0-200 psi / 0-14 Bar / 0-1400 Kpa).

Just as with watches, the digital readout is not "better" than analog.  Both systems work just fine and some people simply prefer digital to analog.

The new spring-loaded air chuck behaves like an automatic coupler and you can simply press it onto your tire's valve stem and the air chuck will lock automatically.  To release, draw back the spring-loaded collar and the air chuck will unlock.

The stainless-braided hose is 23.5" long, so there is no need to remain crouched or kneeling while inflating, deflating, or gauging.

To inflate, simply depress the thumb lever and release the lever to stop and gauge the new pressure inside the tire.  If you go over your target pressure, it is very easy to depress the side button to let some air out of the system and gauge again.  With inflate and deflate functions at your fingertips and automatic gauging whenever you stop, it is very easy and intuitive to reach your target pressure.

The Digital Tire Inflator is powered by two AAA batteries (included) and the runtime is about 200 hours of use.  There is an integrated battery life indicator in the display, so you will never be caught with dead batteries.  (Your Digital Tire Inflator will probably sit dormant for long periods of time, so replace the included AAA batteries with Energizer Lithiums for best results and to prevent battery leakage.)

The head is covered with rubber armor to prevent damage from drops or hard knocks, and the stainless hose is covered with clear vinyl so that the stainless braiding does not scratch your wheels.

The input end of the Digital Tire Inflator is fitted with an Industrial Interchange plug for easy and quick attachment to and detachment from the High Temperature Air Hose from your ARB Air Compressor Pump Up Kit.

While the Digital Tire Inflator has a side button to allow deflation, that procedure is more suited for getting the exact amount of air pressure in your tires rather than deflating them before hitting the trail.  For airing down your tires, far faster, easier, and better ways include:

In addition to having to air down and air up on nearly all offroad trips, approximately 90% of your trail fixes will involve tires.  So having a solid onboard air system on your 4x4 is mandatory. Acquire the tools and skills to perform tire repairs and you will be well on the way to becoming a compleat offroader.
